Leveraging European Technology Platforms to boost Europe’s public and private R&I outcomes
FABRE Technology Platform (FABRE TP), together with 17 other European Technology Platforms (ETPs), calls on the European Commission to reaffirm its support for the strategic role of ETPs in the next EU Framework Programme for Research and Innovation succeeding Horizon Europe (FP10). The important contributions of ETPs have been acknowledged, most recently in the EU Council conclusions from May 2024:
The Council of the EU “UNDERLINES the importance of drawing on existing mechanisms and partnerships, such as industrial alliances, the European Innovation Council, the SET Plan Steering Group, European Technology Platforms, Joint Undertakings and other Horizon Europe partnerships” - Council of the European Union. (2024). Council conclusions on a competitive European industry driving our green, digital, and resilient future
We believe that the role of ETPs is vital in bridging the gap between research outputs, innovation transfer, and societal and sectoral needs. Therefore, we urge the Commission to continue its support for ETPs within FP10.
Since their establishment in 2003, ETPs have served as crucial public-private multi-actor fora, aligning research priorities to address Europe’s most pressing challenges with a strong emphasis on innovation transfer. Our platforms have played a significant role in advising on both EU and national R&I agendas, fostering collaboration across various sectors, and facilitating the translation of research into tangible, marketable solutions. We firmly believe that the active engagement of ETPs will be instrumental in achieving the objectives outlined in the Align, Act, Accelerate report, particularly regarding enhancing industrial competitiveness and supporting pan-European collaborative research.
FABRE TP is dedicated to advancing the role of animal breeding and genetics in sustainable food production. Our commitment to bridging research with real-world applications is essential for ensuring that Europe remains at the forefront of innovation and sustainability in agriculture.
