The Farm Animal Breeding and Reproductive European Technology Platform (FABRE TP) is a forum led by knowledge institutes and academia collaborating with the private sector. It provides a platform to define research priorities for animal breeding, genetics and reproduction to accelerate the sustainability, competitiveness and resilience of all animal farming systems. The Platform is also active in promoting research and innovation in Aquaculture and Livestock Breeding and Reproduction.
ABOUT BALANCED BREEDING
Balanced and responsible breeding means finding a sustainable compromise for the people, the planet, and for farmed animals by including in breeding programs traits related to the health and welfare of animals, to reduce the environmental impacts and the use of resources, and to improve the quality of the animal products (milk, meat, fish meat and eggs) whilst keeping genetic diversity. The Code of good practices for Responsible and Balanced Breeding (Code EFABAR) developed by EFFAB for EFFAB members delivers the principles and criteria to implement modern animal breeding.

Stimulating knowledge transfer for dynamic and sustainable usage of scientific results
Bridging the gap between the public and private R&I, and science-based policymaking
STIMULATING AND PROMOTING RESEARCH & INNOVATION IN THE FIELD OF ANIMAL BREEDING AND GENETICS
Developing Research and Innovation agendas and setting priorities for EU R&I
Research and innovation are essential to ensure continuous improvements needed for a sustainable and competitive livestock sector. We work on supporting partnerships between the private sector and knowledge centers to tackle major challenges with sustainable farm animal breeding and reproduction technologies. Our mission is to support responsible farm animal breeding, genetics, and reproduction through R&I developments.
