Mission and objectives

Our mission is to promote and engage in research and innovation in farm animal breeding and reproduction in Europe, for both livestock and aquatic farmed animals.

Set research and innovation agendas

We identify the sector’s research needs, with input from members and stakeholders, and publish them in our Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda

Promote and support research

We take part in EU-funded projects and research infrastructures, and feed the sector’s needs into EU research programmes

Connect research and industry

We support partnerships between breeding companies and research institutes to tackle major challenges in sustainable breeding and reproduction.

Communicate

We share research developments and sector needs with EU decision-makers, stakeholders and the public

Why it matters

Breeding has a long-term, cumulative effect: improvements made today are passed on to future generations of animals. Research in breeding and reproduction supports animal health and welfare, efficient use of resources, a lower environmental impact, genetic diversity, and a competitive European breeding sector.
